As
well as shoeboxes from
Once
again the most popular age group is the 6-11 group with almost 1100 boxes in
that category. There are well over 600 Christmas shoeboxes for pensioners,
making it the 2nd most popular category. The least popular age range
was the 11+ group.
There
was a big increase in the number of sponsors packing a personalised shoebox for
the pensioner or family or young person they sponsor.
It
was noticed that in general the over-all standard of the boxes was excellent,
with many donors clearly packing with love and thought. It is our aim is that
each box will bring as much pleasure as possible and also will be of practical
help to the recipient. So we believe there will be 1900 happy children and
young people and 600 happy pensioners as a result of people’s generosity and
compassion.
A
small team from
A
total of £3400 was donated towards transport costs and to buy sweets for
children and food for pensioners. Out of the £2 transport money requested with
each shoebox, half is spent on purchasing food to give to pensioners receiving
shoeboxes or sweets for the children. Approximately 25% of the shoeboxes came
with no money, which inevitably has reduced the amount of money available to
purchase sweets for children and food for pensioners.
In
addition an additional £1000 was received specifically allocated to purchase
food for needy Romanian families, £500 allocated for the project to build a
home for needy pensioners and a further £500 to be used where most needed.
To
each and every person who donated or assisted in any way a huge THANK YOU.
