Morning Thought
Good morning. My Morning thoughts this week are based on my
time in Romania in December distributing humanitarian aid with Mustard Seed
Jersey.
One of our visits was to a state run orphanage for young
people with a variety of special needs. This visit was both challenging and
rewarding.
Most institutions in Romania that care for the vulnerable seem
to be understaffed, under-resourced and underfunded. But in this particular
institution, the staff genuinely cared for the young people in their care and
wanted to make things better for them. So they welcomed us in.
We took in sweets, biscuits and some balloons. But it is the
balloons that I remember the most, seeing the young people scream with delight,
laugh, jump in excitement and interact with us as we played together with the
balloons.
We have left there disturbed at the
lack of opportunities for these young people, but we left there knowing that
our visit had brightened their day.
We in Mustard Seed hope to brighten the lives of the
repatriated victims of people trafficking by packing welcome boxes and we
invite you to consider this as something to do during Lent. Details are
available at the BBC Radio Jersey reception or on our website www.mustardseedjersey.co.uk
For a trafficked victim to receive the box you pack could
really brighten their day, knowing someone cared enough to pack that box.
God bless you and give you opportunities to brighten the day
for the people you meet today.
